What is Equanimity?

Why Equanimity?

We know that there are several different companies that offer ABA services. We do not take it for granted that your options for providers are quite broad... so, why is Equanimity any different from the other ABA companies out there?

Both of our founders’ families have been directly impacted by autism. Both have nephews that are on the spectrum. They both have nephews who have struggled with speech delays and feeding disorders. Their family has anguished and suffered as much as yours in dealing with these disorders. It is because they know all the struggles of this disorder, as well as the triumphs, that they have decided to create a company where love, compassion, and empathy are at the forefront of treatment. Furthermore, several of our therapists, and  support staff themselves have children, nephews, siblings, nieces, and cousins who have autism.

It is this level of understanding, and the fact of knowing how much this diagnosis impacts the entire family, that built Equanimity Behavioral Services from the ground up, with a team of professionals who not only understand what you and your family are going through, but are also continuing to live the same struggle day in and day out.

We understand that a diagnosis oftentimes brings tension between parents, and family members. We understand that it can bring such high levels of stress that families’ coping skills become impaired. It can bring depression, as you worry about your child’s future and what their quality of life will be. We understand It can bring feelings of loneliness, as you lose friends, and people who do not understand what you are going through become distant, critical, and at times unsupportive.

This is why at Equanimity, we do not just offer ABA. Instead, we offer a wholesome approach that includes both ABA services as well as mental health counseling, family therapy, couple’s therapy, and psychological support to the children, families, and parents that we commit to work with. We aim through and through to bring that mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper through the most difficult of situations, that is, “Equanimity”.
